A fabulous celebration of Jazz in Brixton!
Funky Fridays is a fundraising event at Brixton St Vincent’s Community Centre. Our jazz nights are held once a month at the centre and help raise funds for two youth projects in Brixton.
Our Funky Fridays host is Lamont’e Johnson. Chicago-born Lamont’e is the director of Artworks Direct, a Brixton-based initiative to inspire disaffected young people through artistic self-expression. He is also a celebrated artist and designer in his own right.
So take a break and join us – and support your local community.

All proceeds go to two youth projects:
Bling Ya Bike
Students are given the opportunity to decorate recycled bicycles in their own original designs with guidance from Lamont’e. They are also taught bike maintenance and cycling proficiency in Brockwell Park.
Saturday Arts Club
Weekly workshops run for children aged 7-13 years at BSVCC, including Street Dance, Arts & Crafts and Circus Skills.
